Abundant Grace Week Three Discussion Questions

How wonderful it is to be diligent in the study of God's word. I know we are each growing closer to God because of it. May God give you a new passion for His word this week.

Regarding Rahab, Boaz, Ruth, and David;

1-Name some things that made these people ordinary.

2-What were their main challenges?

3-What stood out the most to you this week?

4-Can you see how God uses anyone who is willing?

5-Have you asked Jesus to be Lord of your life? Share your personal testimony with the group. If you have never asked the Lord into your life now is a good time. You just need to ask and He will come.

6-Did you realize that such scandal was in the lineage of Jesus? What are your thoughts? Can you relate to this in your heritage?

7-What did you learn from Rahab? Is any sin too big for God to forgive?

8-What did you learn from Ruth and Boaz?

9-What did you learn from David?

10-David was a man after God’s own heart and still messed up so big; does that give you hope in your life? How?

I love this story. I use to pray and ask God to protect me from the wrong mate until the right one came along. He did! I can honestly say that I have a man of God.
Every time I re-read this story, it stirs thankfulness in my heart for both a godly husband and for Christ, my redeemer!

thanks, Angela!!

I love finding the little things that we read in the stories that make us go "hmmmm..." Therefore, I'm going to restate my previous post to see if anyone else has an opinion. :)
When Samuel is told by God to find the king at Jessie's house in 1 Samuel 16 and they are having this little conversation - do you think that God is speaking audibly here? Is Samuel actually 'hearing' God or is it an inner voice? Just curious about this because of what happens in the next few verses. I would love some opinions...

Rejection and shame have been issues I have had to take to God over and over. Growing up in a home with alcoholism/battering until age 4; and then mom's emotional fragility and many moves convinced me I was rejected and I wasn't as good as most of my peers.

I had a "cute" "sweet" success-looking mask, but inside I was hurting with shame and rejection. When I praise Jesus Christ for setting me free that entails eternal life, but also freedom from these wretched bondages.

All of these Biblical heroes dealt with rejection, shame, fear and not measuring up to the status quo of their peers. Isn't our Lord wonderful to spotlight these people with these issues? He brought them to victory and He's bringing each of us to victory no matter what we have battled.

Loved your insight, this week and throughout the study. Can't wait to see what you are God are up to this next week.

Be blessed.

My mother and father partied together and so that is how I came to be- growing up, my Dad continued to be an alcoholic and my mother had several psychological illnesses. As I grew up, I didn't understand these things, but God used them to draw me to Himself and he used their sinful behaviors to bring me into this world and to shine his glory through me, what a humbling, most awesome thought and gift! To this day, people in my hometown stop my Dad and ask how I am his daughter and he begins to share about God. My neighbor now has a daughter who has 2 children from 2 different men out of wedlock and I was able to share with her and believe what great plans God has for these children, what an opportunity for them to know God in such secret, intimate ways like the gift God gave me. One of my friends who is a counselor told me how many people struggle placing attributes of their physical father onto God, thus preventing healthy attachment to God, but I never had such an original physical attachment to my earthly father to do this, so in reality, my relationship with God has profound healthy attachment! Isn't God amazing how He does these things? In order to serve overseas, due to my past, I had to go through a bunch of physiological testing and the counselors agreed that they had never met anyone who had been through so much that God had done such a redemptive work in! All praise to Him for how He has proven Himself Kinsmen-Redeemer in my life. His faithfulness fuels hope and prayer.
