Finally, We Lost It!

The anticipated event has finally arrived. After 2215 days, just a bit short of her 7th birthday, Kaitlyn has finally lost her first baby tooth! All of her friends have been losing theirs for years it seems. Finally the day is here but we have one problem--we cannot find the tooth!

We have launched a full search and rescue mission but to no avail. She wonders if she may have swallowed it. It happened when she noticed it was gone all of a sudden. Now the bigger question remains.................What is the going rate for a tooth these days? Especially if it is MIA?

Oh what a precious sweetie- love her smile!
It's such a huge deal to loose that first tooth.
I'm probably a cheap tooth fairy- but the rate at our house is $1.00

Maybe her tooth got stuck in a peanut butter sandwich? :~D

Have a blessed weekend.

She is beautiful...tooth missing and all. I hope you find the tooth. If you fail to I believe the tooth fairy will give some extra compensation for the agony of the search.

Easy for me to say; I don't have to compensate the tooth fairy.

Hmmm I bet she did swallow it!! The tooth fairy has had a definite increase since I was a kid when it was a quarter. What a precious picture!!

Oh how cute :) My little guy was very anxious too to lose his first tooth!

There's an adorable book out there about a girl being afraid of going to first grade and it has to do with a lost tooth and a story that a kid told her about the teacher keeping their teeth. (All of which was false of course because the teacher turned out to be delightful!) I think it's called Mrs. Watson's Tooth or something like that... it's in my son's room and he's asleep or I'd check :)

Anyhow, it seems the lost tooth rate keeps getting higher and higher these days! I remember getting a dime and thinking I was rich - LOL! I think a dollar sounds reasonable though.

But get this, when my youngest lost his first tooth last year, Grandma and Grandpa set the standard by giving a dollar. So I suppose I'm stuck! (smile)

Woo Hoo! Tell her congrats! The going rate at our house is $1.00 too, but I have friends who think that's cheap. Some go $5.00! (I've told my kids the tooth fairy bases the "going rate" on factors such as household income, quality of the tooth, etc.) :-) Also, my son was almost seven when he finally lost his first one, too, and he also couldn't find it!!! He still got the $1.00 though because we placed a call to the tooth fairy (within his earshot) and explained what happened. She was very understanding! :-)

One of my fave memories - the "tooth fairy" who brought me 10 dimes! I treasured those shiny coins for days- meant more to me than any dollar bill!

My tooth fairy always left me 50 cent pieces. Loved those!
