Tour De Force - A Book Review
Elizabeth White wrote a great piece in Tour De Force. It deals with real life issues like what happens when your dreams are shattered? Where is God in the midst? How can I be in the world and not of it? How do I relate to others in my field who have no interest in God like me? Very good stuff written answering these questions and more through the characters. Though they are fictional they could be any one of us.
This is a sweet story of friendship and love. How God is the God of our lives and His will will prevail. His will works in ways that will bring Him most glory through our lives.
I especially enjoyed it because I am a former dancer. Illness took that and any dream I may have had to pursue that away. But God does have other plans and they might not be what we initially thought. He is good in all things.

Why I LOVE Dance - SYTYCD - Melissa and Ade
This is such a great piece! If you have ever suffered with any type of serious illness or have a friend who has you can relate. Melissa plays a woman with breast cancer while Ade is a friend trying to come alongside and help her in this struggle. It is just beautiful.

Bible Teaching at its Best
I am over at Heart of the Matter today. Go visit them here.
Summer is now here and it is a great time for taking on a lighter schedule. In our home in the summer we continue with the schooling but our school time is not as “official” during the summer as it is during the rest of the academic year. Learning is a continual action and as we go along we are always talking about things. Most importantly however we never take a break from learning the things of God. ~Read More.

Book Review - Sunset Beach by Trish Perry
If I could sum my review up in one word it would be WOW! Trish Perry has done it again! I had the opportunity to review her previous beach house book which I loved. The review is here. But this book is right up there with it. Can I just say that Trish Perry is now my favorite fiction author! If you are looking for some really good reads get both of these books.
Sunset Beach is again set at the beach house. I love how Trish draws you into the story as you are personally there. Again, it is the real deal about living this Christian walk through characters that any of us can easily relate too. It hits the mark again in addressing real life discipleship and how God works in our everyday lives. I could not put this down because I just loved it so. I do hope you pick this one up. It will not disappoint.
Now most of you know that I am not a super huge fan of fiction but I will tell you this, Trish Perry is opening my eyes to how good some fictional works have the potential to be. In this world I never want to waste any time reading something that will not grow my walk with the Lord. This book though fiction grew me in the Lord even more. It is well worth the time to read. You just have to get it and see.
Okay well now that I am blushing because of my raving. I will tell you where to get it if you are interested. Please check out Trish's site too.

My Body and a Healthy Temple of God
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
This is a serious conviction of mine. This body of mine belongs to God fully. It deserves to be at a healthy weight. There are many reasons my weight has gotten out of control, having children, suffering from debilitating illness for 7+ years, medication side affects, eating for comfort, overeating, eating in unhealthy ways. Those are just a few reasons. But whether they are my fault or other things there is a time to take charge.
This body of mine is a gift from God. His Holy Spirit dwells there. It is my responsibility with great help from God to give it a good place to dwell. Right now I have no expectations but health. This will be an uphill battle. It will not be fun and will be very painful. I understand but with God all things are possible and with His help things can be done. I desire to be the most healthy that I can be. Sure a thorn of health issues has been given to me but with a healthier temple those issues may not have as strong of a hold.
Now, keeping in mind the context of this verse deals with sexual purity but the temple being the temple it can apply to treating your body right. So with that, and the support of my man, we are feeding our bodies healthy things. No more junk or at least only in moderation but at first this stuff will just need to be fasted. So please pray. This is a HUGE deal. I will keep you posted on the journey. Right now I am off to the treadmill.

Independence Day
Oh sweet country of mine, will we continue on our own way or will we turn back to God? Our forefathers fought and lost their lives for this freedom to worship, are we honoring them?
Oh sweet country that God born me in, will you continue to go astray or will you go back on the path toward God? Will you make the ones that went before us proud or was their labor in vain?
Oh sweet country of mine, this is a great day to celebrate, will we let God bless us? Will we return to our former way? I pray, I pray, we will return to the way God made us.
Lord, forgive us for going our own way. Please return to us. We are still here worshiping You. Lead us and guide us and turn our country back to You as we humble ourselves and declare our dependence on You alone. In Jesus Name. Amen.
