30 Day Sibling Challenge - Day Nineteen

Day Nineteen – Perfect Harmony
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!
It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion!
For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore” (Psalm 133:1-3).

This is a Psalm that addresses something important to God—unity. This in fact is so important that it is written as BEHOLD which means to take notice of this, reflect upon it. He is saying that it is good AND pleasant when brothers dwell in unity.

Think about the most peaceful times in your home. How were you then? Wouldn’t it be good and pleasant to have that continually? This happens when brothers and sisters intentionally make the effort to live together and do life in unity. It makes for a peaceful home. A mom and dad who are less stressed out. A life that is peaceful. Chose to walk this way. Make the effort.

This unity is so important that it is compared to the oil that Aaron, the very first priest was anointed with. Oil was only to be used for the most holy things. Oil represents the presence of God or the Holy Spirit. When we live walking in Christ and dying to ourselves we can live together without strife. It is a pleasing sacrifice to God. A holy sacrifice. This oil ran from the top of the priest’s head down his beard and then down his clothing. This means it covered his entire being. That is how we should love one another—fully through the Spirit.

Next this brotherly or sisterly unity is compared to the dew of Hermon. This dew started off on the high mountains and trickled down to the mountains of Zion. Again like the oil it flowed freely downward. Love for our siblings can do this and promotes unity.

In this unity we see that the Lord has commanded a blessing, life forevermore. I would say it is important wouldn’t you?
Today’s Action
Pick a project that you and your sibling(s) must work together in unity. Maybe a household chore or practice, maybe making a fun craft, or playing a game that requires intentional team work and unity.

Parent’s Action
Help the kids pick something that would promote this team work and unity.
