Book Review: Making Disciples Across Cultures by Davis
This was a great book about diversity in our world and how it impacts disciple making around the world. I found this book very informative, useful, and easy to read. It explores various cultural differences in different parts of the world and what that means for sharing Christ. Basically it is very important that we seek to understand people in their various cultures in order to know how to best share the gospel.
Each chapter is broken down into different things we need to learn about discipleship at large. The author has great experience working with different cultures and in different places around the world. He has much wisdom from which the reader can glean. Heaven will be a group of people from every tribe and nation. We need to learn this now on our journey home. I think this is a good read if you have a desire to understand people who are different from you.

Book Review: Accidental Feminist by Reissig
This book was phenomenal in dealing with biblical womanhood. In our day, this can be a tricky topic but this book was handled with much grace and wisdom. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to better understand the complementarian point of view on this topic. Though I, myself, am complementarian in thought I still believe someone who was not could benefit from understanding this school of thought. This book will answer any questions as to what God's plan was with womanhood and how to walk that out in our time.
This book is pro-women and pro-bible but mostly pro-God. Seeing God's bigger plan for womanhood all through the bible is helpful and instructive for everyday life. I found myself from time to time having to stop reading just to worship God for His grand design. I pray all Christians can rightly embrace it, especially in our times.

Book Review: Joy in the Journey by Hayner
This book is an intimate look at a couple's journey with cancer. It is simply a diary. It records their trust and struggles with God through this journey. It is over all encouraging. It is written from the one who has cancer and from the caregiver. The author's are husband and wife.
Honestly, I think we all would do well to read things like this. People get so caught up in things that really do not matter. They put so much energy into things that really don't make a difference but when someone is hit with a serious illness it slows them enough to think, pause, and question life. It is important to do this from time to time. This book walks us through this process with this couple.
I found this book to be encouraging because it is real and honest regarding the struggle. Yet this couple held tight to the God they knew who loved them despite their understanding of their hard circumstances.

Book Review: Marie Durand by Carr
This series of biographies are done with great excellence. This is my second book to read in the series of Christian Biographies for Young Readers. The book is illustrated well and interesting. The pages are thick enough for young readers to turn easily and not damage. Over all this is high caliber quality in a children's book.
The story was also written in an easy enough format for young readers to understand. Marie's story was inspiring and encouraging to me personally as I read her book. It is beneficial for other believers to be encouraged to stand strong for their faith even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
Children can and need to relate to these stories. I really enjoyed this and was inspired by it.

Book Review: Bound for the Promised Land by Martin
Bound for the Promised Land is a book set in the series of New Studies in Biblical Theology. It is greatly informative on God's redemptive plan regarding the land promise. This book takes a thorough look from Genesis to Revelation at the significant talk through the Bible regarding Israel and the progression of the land promise. I found it very informative and helpful in understanding God's larger plan. Overall I was amazed at seeing God's overall plan laid out as we walked through it page by page.
If any of the other books in this series are as cohesive they will definitely be worth the read.
If you are interested in history or the land promise given to Israel and why or how it matters today, this book is for you.

Book Review: Fool's Talk by Os Guiness
This book is evangelism gold! I highly recommend it to all Christians. Evangelism is more than tracks and gimmicks, evangelism is sharing Christ not because we have to but because we love people and it is unkind to not share the life changing truth of the gospel.
Often I see people share in awkward ways. Many are unsure of how to share. This book takes evangelism seriously and walks people through the "how to talk" about the gospel through getting to the heart of the person you are addressing. When we share, not everyone will accept it, but it is unkind not to share the truth of the gospel with those who have not heard.
This book helps you know how to ask good questions so you can understand the person you are talking to. We must listen first before we can properly share because getting to the person's heart is most important. This book is genius and is the perfect tool for the believer to use to learn the art of persuasion. It is a lost art of talking to people and being moved by them as creations made in the image of Christ that is needed more than ever today.
I am very thankful for this book and really encourage you to read it. I have grown in the love of talking with people because of this book.
