Game Review: Punderdome

If you like puns and playing with words, you will like this game. There are 200 cards that you will randomly pair to come up with your own puns. The worse the pun, the better. In the box you also get two little note pads to write your puns down. The game is best played with 3 or more players and with those who are 12 years old and older. The game was written by a father and daughter.

If you are unsure about puns, know anyone can do this. It is a no pressure, funny game. Instructions are even included that will help you understand how to make up a pun if you need this. The tips are helpful for any player who is unsure.

The cards and parts are sturdy and they are in a neat, easy to store box. I like that a lot. This is a great product.

Book Review: Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes by Bailey

I loved this book! It really opened my eyes to the Scriptures in a new way which in turned God used to grow my faith stronger. Reading Scriptures through westernized eyes makes it hard to understand some of the original context. You lose some of the awe of the word when you miss the original cultural context. I often find myself wondering what the original hearers thought about it and what specifically this may have meant to them. This book helps bridge that gap.

The author grew up in the middle east so he knows the culture and history well. In this book he helps the reader understand key texts from the gospels in this context. It is brilliant. I believe this book should be read by any student who desires to carefully study the Bible. When we rightly understand the proper original context we can then better practically apply it to our contemporary situations.

I, personally, was challenged, stretched, and inspired by reading the word of God in cultural context. This is a book that I will keep on my bookshelf to reference again and again. It is worth your time and money.

The author has other titles available as well which I believe would also prove helpful to our understanding of Scripture. You can get this particular title here on Amazon.

Book Review: Praying Together by Hill

Prayer is one of my favorite topics so when anything comes out on prayer, I want to consume it! This title was particularly timely in this obsession I have though because I have been wrestling with how a more formalized prayer purpose or intention should look in our church setting. Thus, the title, Praying Together sparked my interest in my search for helpful, practical answers.

This book was Biblically sound on prayer, which is important because I find many that are not. The author even gave a span of when people started calling out in prayer from Genesis to Revelation. She then addressed occasions of contemporary movements of prayer which I found very interesting as well.

There were also basics on prayer and personal stories. Then the information that I was most interested in was praying together practically in the here and now. I loved the practical ideas that were included in this which will help me apply these in my own setting. There is power and unity that comes in praying together as groups. I was thankful for this timely book at a moment when I was processing this same issue. I know I can implement some of these things personally. I think if you take the time to read this book it will greatly encourage your prayer life.

Book Review: Broth and Stock by McGrunther

I received this book not really understanding how much went into broth and stock and the great varieties there are to them. I make bone broth now because of its great gut healing properties but I was really limited in my knowledge. I only really knew about bone broth. This book is gold standard on the topic! I learned so much about other kinds of broth you can make. For example, did you know that you can make broth from fish? Or vegetables? Probably basic for most but I just didn't think about it.

Not only did I learn about new kinds of broth, I also learned some of the back ground of various healing foods. There are do's and don'ts in here that will help you not ruin a broth. There are great instructions on basics if you have never made or thought about broth. It is really good for any person to read who is interested in food because broth is not just for soups, it is for way more! This book will educate you on that.

Another added bonus is there are recipes for many kinds of broths. And don't get me started on the pictures! They are brilliant. The pages in this book are of great quality and sturdy; good for keeping in the kitchen. I think if you have any interest in making food, you will enjoy this book.

Movie Review from Fish Flix

I had the opportunity to work with Fish Flix to review a movie. Overall it was a good experience. I really like their website and what they stand for. Check them out at fishflix.com.

Specifically what I like most is that when you buy from FishFlix, you support Christian ministries in the Middle East which is near and dear to my heart.

They carry a great variety of Christian movies which I personally think is a wonderful selection, check it out. If you would like to get a $5 coupon, join their email list here.

And you can get Bible Stories: Samson and Deliah, here.  I did not chose this movie but was randomly sent a movie for an honest review. I received it at no cost from the company for this review.

My review of this movie is not great. I did not really like it. It was a three hour depiction of a three chapter story from the Bible. I think the producer took too much creative license with it which is why I did not like. However, I do think you should check them out to see all the other wonderful movies including God's Not Dead 2, children's movies, and series like When Calls the Heart. I hope to order movies from them in the future. I had a great experience with the company.
